Electrical / Electronics Engineer

Lenco is a leading designer and manufacturer of COTS armored security vehicles for Law Enforcement, Military and Government agencies.  We play a significant role in our country’s Homeland Security and are proud to protect our Nation’s Defenders and First Responders.  Lenco is a privately held family owned business in operation since 1981.  We employ roughly 60 people who enjoy their work and take pride in their accomplishments of producing armored vehicles that have been proven to save lives. 

We currently seek an Electrical / Electronics Engineer to join our Engineering Department.  This is a hands-on, design-build position--not just a ‘sit behind the computer’ job.  The work environment has been described by our other vehicle engineers as “this is the job I went to school for.” 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Background

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Four or more years of related work experience 

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Quality assurance and operational verification of various third party vendor COTS electrical and electronics sub-systems
  • Design and prototyping of armored vehicle wiring harnesses for 12VDC and 24VDC electrical systems
  • Modification and revision control of wiring harness AutoCAD drawings, AutoCAD electrical schematics, spreadsheet wire lists and BOM for various model types of armored vehicles
  • Troubleshooting and repair of printed circuit boards at component level
  • Familiarity with the Microchip 8-bit family of microcontrollers
  • Proficient with ANSI C programming for embedded control
  • Experience with PCB layout software
  • Knowledge of design considerations for the automotive electrical environment with regards to load dump, reverse battery, ESD, charged inductive load fly-back, extreme temperature range, EMI radiation.
  • Experience interfacing to vehicle OEM electrical circuits for emergency lighting, logic controls, HVAC, power inverters, thermal video surveillance, alarm systems and other equipment.

Additional Skills Desired

  • Proficient with DIPTrace PCB layout software
  • Proficient with the CCS C-compiler for Microchip
  • Familiarity with CorelDRAW
  • Familiarity with Ford Motors IDS software and Genisys scan tool
